Mezzo-soprano and world star Magdalena Kožená is creating a furore as a soloist with top orchestras and shining in renowned opera theatres. 

And, Kožená has a special place in her heart for our chief conductor Duncan Ward. She met Duncan when, as a 20-year-old, he assisted her husband, star conductor Simon Rattle, at the famous Berlin Philharmonic. 

‘Duncan was still so young, but the musicians showed him great respect,’ she said in an interview. Philzuid is proud to host her for two masterpieces in one evening. 

Not only will she sing Adámek's enchanting vocal adventure Where are you? dedicated to her, but also the vocal solo in the final movement of Mahler's Fourth Symphony, in which earthly tears and heavenly joys merge in highly romantic orchestral music.
