A garden never stands still. Even in winter, there are plants that steal the show. In January and February the selection may be smaller, but what is in bloom makes a big impression.
Hellebores and winter-flowering Cyclamen are real eye-catchers. Hellebores, also known as Christmas roses, often start flowering as early as December. Besides the well-known white Helleborus niger, breeding has produced countless colours: pink, purple, green, yellow and even almost orange.
There are now also semi-double and double flowers, as well as varieties with striking foliage. Hardy Cyclamen are surprisingly strong. Cyclamen coum flowers from December to April with white, pink or magenta-coloured blooms and beautifully patterned leaves.
Planted beneath deciduous trees, they bring colour to the gloomiest corners. When they feel at home, they multiply year after year.
