The founders of the buitenplaats Marlies and Jo Eyck were prominent collectors in the Netherlands and they created undisputedly the most important former private collection in Limburg. 

For the first time, this collection will be shown in its full extent. Buitenplaats Kasteel Wijlre and Bonnefanten present one exhibition at two venues. Preserving Character includes 147 works by 60 artists. 

Eyck collection 
The collection was brought together over the course of 40 years by married couple Marlies and Jo Eyck, who lived in Wijlre in the castle on the estate from 1980, and during those decades developed the buitenplaats into what it is today: a 'gesamtkunstwerk' of architecture, nature and contemporary art. 

And has become a much-loved public cultural destination in South Limburg. Collection Eyck is undisputedly the most important former private collection in Limburg.
