Funky rhythm guitars, Hammond, Fender Rhodes and synths, and a rhythm section that has been performing together for decades, playing solid grooves and tight, powerful arrangements that have since become their trademark.
All of this is underscored by the stunningly beautiful and soulful vocals of singer Irma Derby. Irma Derby is currently making waves with her Donna Summer tribute band Donna’s Hot Stuff, with which she won The Tribute: Battle of the Bands. Tristan takes you back to the wonderfully warm sound of the 1970s, infused with a fresh breeze of contemporary influences.
Although Tristan’s music sounds like bands such as Rufus & Chaka Khan, Snarky Puppy, or classic Acid Jazz acts like Incognito and The Brand New Heavies — all known for producing energetic grooves — what sets this group apart from their contemporaries is the high quality of their compositions and arrangements.
The band performed at North Sea Jazz in 2023 and has played at various jazz clubs across Europe in recent years.
