Kasteel Montfort dates back to 1260 and was one of the largest castles in the Netherlands for centuries. Today, its impressive castle ruins are a reminder of that glorious past. In recent years, two corner towers and several large cellar rooms have been carefully restored.

In the visitor centre, you can discover the rich history of the castle, its former residents and the surrounding landscape. Be surprised by the fascinating past of this remarkable region.

Descend into the atmospheric eastern cellars dating from the fourteenth century and explore the prison dungeon in the Witte Toren. Enjoy the views from the castle towers or the castle terrace, and set off on foot from Kasteel Montfort to explore the beautiful estates of Rozendaal, Schrevenhof and Reigersbroek.

You can also combine your visit to Kasteel Montfort with a walk through the historic castle garden. Afterwards, relax with a drink or a bite to eat on the cosy castle terrace. For children, there is a treasure hunt and traditional Dutch games.
