Archeologisch Museum Stein

From Prehistory to the Middle Ages

Discover how people lived, worked and settled thousands of years ago in the area now known as South Limburg. At the Archaeological Museum Stein, remarkable finds, reconstructions, films and stories bring more than 7,000 years of habitation history to life.

The highlight of the exhibition is the unique stone grave (a Neolithic burial chamber) from Stein, dating from around 3400 BC. This extraordinary find has not been discovered anywhere else in the Netherlands or beyond and forms part of Europe’s prehistoric megalithic tradition.

Visit the museum and discover the story of the first permanent inhabitants of this region. Guided tours, workshops and activities make history come alive for both young and old.
