Stadsbrouwerij Maastricht

Stadsbrouwerij Maastricht

At the foot of the centuries-old Sint Servaasbrug, where the city centre and Wyck meet, you will find Stadsbrouwerij Maastricht. A place where the city’s rich brewing history meets the vibrant Maastricht of today.

On the terrace overlooking the Maas, or inside the former brewing tower, you can enjoy the warm, Burgundian atmosphere that is so characteristic of the city. It is the perfect place for tours, tastings, meetings and gatherings, always infused with Mestreechse class, conviviality and hospitality.

The transformation of the former brewery De Ridder into Stadsbrouwerij Maastricht marked a new chapter for Maastricht’s brewing tradition. In 2018, entrepreneur Charles van Goch opened a tasting room with its own microbrewery on the historic site at the Oeverwal.

From the very beginning, one wish stood at the centre: the beloved Maltezer beer had to return. Soon, residents of Maastricht and beer lovers from the Netherlands and Belgium began asking whether the city’s iconic specialty beer would be available again. The enthusiasm was great, and the return of Maltezer was embraced as De Smaak van Maastricht.

Mergel Wit also found its home here. At the very place where Maastricht’s wheat beer once originated, the brewers developed a unique white beer with a subtle touch of mergel. Its fresh, smooth and accessible taste fits perfectly with sunny days along the Maas and with the relaxed atmosphere of the brewery.

There is much more to taste, discover and experience. Stadsbrouwerij Maastricht is a place where the history of the city remains tangible, but where enjoyment always takes centre stage. When will you stop by?
