Zandsteenblok Rozenhof

At Camping Rozenhof, hikers are treated to a beautiful view of the Geul valley. Hikers here look out over a 5-star landscape, officially awarded by the Ministry of Nature and Environment. Hikers see a huge stone on the terrace of the camping site. Guess how much this stone weighs? This whopper has 14,045 kilos!

It is a sandstone block that was broken off from a stone layer in South Limburg when the Alps were formed and carried here on ice floes by the Maas. These immense boulders can be found all over Europe and they have been used in other places for prehistoric structures such as the dolmens and Stonehenge.
