From 11 May to 24 August, Kasteel Wijlre estate presents Il y avait un Jardin, a solo exhibition by Dutch artist Gladys Zeevaarders (Kerkrade, 1993).
Shown in the Coach House, the exhibition features new work developed through a year of field research on and around the estate. Through quiet drawings, riso prints, textiles, and colour studies, Zeevaarders brings to life the hidden rhythms and textures of plants, flowers, and fungi.
Her work invites close observation and reveals the richness found in the seemingly small and fleeting. Il y avait un Jardin is a sensory tribute to the landscape and the art of seeing.
The exhibition brings together several new series, including an archive of colour extractions from nature.
