It is sometimes said that people love animals because they do not understand them. The lack of a shared language provides scope for projecting feelings.

Looking at the precarious state of the Dutch landscape, the needs of animals seem to play hardly any role. How do animals actually experience this pressure on their environment?

In this exhibition, artists make the impact of human actions on animals tangible. All animals that are given a voice through the artworks are found in the region surrounding the country estate: from cows to kingfishers and dogs.

Often through a change of perspective: how does an animal experience the changing landscape? And to what extent can silence be interpreted as consent?

This is an exhibition about the landscape that humans share with animals, about language and about the impossible attempt to fully comprehend an animal.
