On Saturday, 10 October, Mandoline-Ensemble en -Orkest The Strings will present a grand anniversary concert in Stein at 8:00 p.m.

The concert celebrates the 50th anniversary of the ensemble and the 45th anniversary of the orchestra. Both groups have been conducted by Annemie Hermans ever since they were founded.

Her sister Leoniek is a co-founder and has been a soloist on mandolin and clarinet, as well as a vocalist, for 50 years. Throughout all these years, she has also served as concertmaster of the ensemble. Their brother Eric has been responsible for the sound engineering from the very beginning and played guitar with the group for more than 40 years.

Many other musicians have also been members for more than 25 years. During this special anniversary concert, both the orchestra and the ensemble will perform highlights from their extensive repertoire.

Following the performances by The Strings, the Down South Jazzband will bring the evening to a musical close. The band is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and is led by its founder, Jan Tom Fernhout.
