Lezing Jan van Bree

Brasserie Restaurant La Valeur, Parc Imstenrade,
Heerlen
On Thursday 4 September at 2.30 p.m., literary scholar and classicist Jan van Bree, resident of Parc Imstenrade, will give a special lecture in the La Valeur hall. The theme is Heracles – known in Latin as Hercules – the most famous hero in Greek mythology.

Heracles symbolises strength and courage, and his stories continue to inspire people to this day. Jan will talk about his birth, his relationship with Hera, and his famous twelve labours. The lecture will be richly illustrated with art, from antique statues and Greek vases to Renaissance paintings and modern interpretations.

Afterwards, there will be coffee and vlaai (a traditional Dutch fruit tart).
