From 11 May to 24 August, Kasteel Wijlre estate presents the first solo exhibition in the Netherlands by German artist Lin May Saeed (1973–2023).
In her imaginative sculptures and reliefs, often made from polystyrene, Saeed portrays animals as autonomous beings with their own personalities and strength. Her work envisions a world where human and non-human life forms coexist in solidarity.
The exhibition in and around the Hedge House offers a compelling cross-section of her oeuvre and highlights her lifelong commitment to animal rights. Poetic, critical, and full of hope, Saeed’s art invites us to reconsider the relationship with animals.
With this retrospective, Kasteel Wijlre estate affirms its ambition to present artists who reflect imaginatively on the relationship between humans and nature. The exhibition is realised in collaboration with the Estate of Lin May Saeed.
