MAPAWAY 2026 – BERGEN

From 14 to 23 August, Vaals transforms into a stage for art, cartography and landscape during MAPAWAY.

This international map festival invites you to experience maps and the landscape in a completely new way. This year's theme is BERGEN: both as a verb – to collect, preserve and stack – and as a noun, where natural and human-made elevations come together.

Visit unique exhibitions, walks, workshops and lectures at surprising locations throughout the landscape. Starting from Berghut Halverwege and the IKOB museum in Eupen, you can explore routes that connect art, heritage, nature and cartography.

MAPAWAY is perfect for curious walkers, art and map enthusiasts, and families looking to experience Zuid-Limburg in an alternative way. Discover, walk, create and see the world differently – and explore how it is mapped.
