Philzuid delves into the terrifying sound world of Halloween with Berlioz and Weinberg. Symphonie fantastique is an obsessive love letter from Berlioz to actress Harriet Smithson.

In this five-movement orchestral work, Berlioz depicts the turbulent life of an artist who falls hopelessly in love and indulges in stimulants. In his trumpet concerto, Weinberg plays with dark timbres and ferocious rhythms.

This concert is in good hands with award-winning German trumpet virtuoso Simon Höfele. The Halloween ball opens with the fairy-tale atmospheres of Paul Dukas' symphonic poem Sorcerer's Apprentice, also known from Disney's Fantasia.
