On Wednesday 6 May, chamber choir CantaMaas and poet Puck Füsers present a special evening of choral music and poetry at the Cellebroederskapel (in the centre of Maastricht).
Under the title Pleurs d’Amour (Tears of Love), the evening explores the darker sides of love: loss and grief; betrayal and bitterness; numbness and resentment… but also the discovery of love and beauty through making music together, and the cleansing joy of rain washing away the pain.
The programme features English, Dutch and German madrigals, complemented by Bulgarian, Romanian and Indian choral music, as well as a recent composition by American composer Jennifer Lucy Cook.
Interwoven with the music, Limburg-based poet Puck Füsers will recite her own poems, forming a colourful thread throughout the evening’s tapestry of tears and raindrops. Start: 8:00 PM (doors open: 7:30 PM). Drinks and pastries will be available after the performance.
