SCHUNCK Museum in Heerlen presents the duo exhibition On the other side of the ocean. On view from 20 May to 14 September, Tuesday to Sunday, 11am-17pm. 

The exhibition features works by Rinella Alfonso (Curaçao) and Charles Eyck (Limburg). It explores the differences between Curaçao then and now, with themes of identity and heritage. 

Alfonso creates dreamlike worlds with everyday objects, inspired by memories of her home in Curaçao. Eyck stayed in Curaçao in the 1950s, where he renewed his painting style. 

The exhibition connects the legacies of Curaçao and Limburg, highlighting visual art from the past and present. The collaboration with guest curator Tirzo Martha, art historian Monique Dickhaut and Judaline Cyntje, director of the Curaçaosch Museum, helped create this exhibition.
