In the Koetshuis of the country estate Kasteel Wijlre, artist Minne Kersten (1993) presents the exhibition Changing Rooms, featuring recent and new paintings, sculptures and film works.
Especially for the estate, Kersten developed a new film work inspired by the Kasteel and its hidden history. This building was formerly the residence of Jo and Marlies Eyck, the founders of the estate.
In her often mysterious body of work, she explores the genius loci — the spirit of a place where absence, memory and transformation converge. Architecture plays an important role in this process, serving both as a carrier of invisible stories and as a metaphor for memory.
For her new film installation, Kersten filmed in the vacant rooms on the upper floors of the Kasteel, which are normally not accessible to visitors. Using a classic 16 mm camera and a special flash technique, she created dreamy, tranquil images that capture the invisible spirit of the place.
