In November 2024, artist Alejandro Galván (Mexico, 1990) launched a painted chronicle of Mexico from the perspective of one of the country's largest working-class neighbourhoods. 

The artist lives in Nezahualcóyotl, a suburb of Mexico City, a place where political neglect and violence have shaped the social panorama. 

His often highly detailed paintings mix realism with mythology and deal with his experience of growing up in this environment and the corruption of the Mexican state and police. 

For a sneak preview into the artistic process, Marres will be open as early as every Saturday from 1 February. The grand opening will take place on 15 March at 5pm. The exhibition will be completely finished in June 2025, which will be celebrated with a second opening.
