The Museum van de Vrouw in Echt is participating in the national project ‘Draden van ons Nederlandse slavernijverleden’.
Within this project, Limburg will have its own tapestry: a collective textile artwork in which stories from the province come together, including those from the municipality of Echt-Susteren.
Stories about the past, connection, and the traces that are still visible in the present. The tapestry is not only made for Limburg, but above all with Limburg.
Everyone can take part; no experience is required. Whether you are familiar with textile techniques such as embroidery, quilting, patchwork, punching or tufting, or would simply like to try it – you are more than welcome.
For this special project, circular textiles are used. Fabrics and materials that previously had a different purpose are given a new life and become part of this collective artwork.
You can contribute at several locations in Limburg, including the Museum van de Vrouw in Echt. Come on your own or bring someone along!
