Fringe Orchestra takes you on a journey through the Women in Jazz series, where leading female jazz soloists and composers take center stage. With support from Nadine’s Nix Singing in Harmony project.
Fringe Orchestra is the annual crossover orchestra project of Conservatorium Maastricht. It consists of top talents and alumni from the music academy, and each edition is tailor-made for a new guest soloist. This all happens under the direction of artistic leader Jesse Passenier, who both conducts the orchestra and creates the arrangements.
Previous editions have featured crossovers between a big band, a classical ensemble, and an electric band, and Fringe Orchestra continues to reinvent itself. You’ll find the orchestra right at home on stage—it shared it last season with the renowned Catalan trumpeter and singer Andrea Motis. Fringe Orchestra dares, challenges, overwhelms, and inspires.
Where boundaries exist, that’s where it happens.
