This lime themed cycle route takes you to the most beautiful spots in Zuid-Limburg. You will discover the limy and green surroundings of Maastricht and Valkenburg. From Maastricht you will work your way up from the Maas Valley to the Margraten Plateau. On this plateau you will find marl pit ‘Curfsgroeve’ with its lime kilns. In ‘marl town’ Valkenburg you can see marl both above and underground. Tourist attractions are the castle, the catacombs, the open-air theatre and the quarries. The oldest quarry is prehistoric and the newest one is still active. You can park and start at the car park of ‘Brasserie Bie de groeve’ (Gemeentebroek 15, Meerssen).
