Since prehistoric times, people have been attracted to the South Limburg Meuse valley and the plateau. Natural connections and fertile land have made people happy to settle here for centuries. The routes that the medieval Meuse valley inhabitants followed to higher, untouched grounds led to new settlements and created historical connections between inhabitants.
With this walking route you follow in the footsteps of the early medieval inhabitants of the Maas valley, while enjoying the varied landscape of the municipality of Eijsden-Margraten. There are plenty of catering establishments in Eijsden for a nice cup of coffee. You can also easily park there.
Please note : this route is not signposted, but can also be downloaded via a special PDF (see 'Download' under 'Print PDF'). Here you will find a pdf with a written route description.
There is nothing as annoying as a lack of clear signposting on your route. Despite continuous checks, a lack may still exist. Report unclear, broken or missing signposts quickly and efficiently to Routepunt Zuid-Limburg. Of course, suggestions for improvements are also welcome. Together, we can keep all our recreational routes up-to-date and accessible!
