Since 1970, the conductors contest has been an important part of the World Music Contest (WMC). The event provides young conductors with an international stage to showcase their talents, gain experience with professional wind orchestras and receive direct feedback from an expert international jury.

Once again, WMC provides the stage for the International Conductors Contest in Kerkrade. From 45 applications, 16 promising young conductors from 11 different countries have been selected for this edition.
During this final concert, it will be decided who will receive the coveted Golden Baton, the highest distinction of the competition. In the final, the three finalists will present themselves in a gala programme at the Rodahal in Kerkrade.
