Sunday, 19 July is the day everything revolves around. From 12:00 PM, the festival grounds in Obbicht open their gates for the main day of the Zuid-Limburgs Federatiefeest – the annual shooting festival that celebrates the schutter tradition of South and Central Limburg in all its splendour.

The absolute highlight is the folkloric parade featuring no fewer than 53 associations, each proudly presenting itself at its very best. A grandstand has been set up along the Ecrevissestraat, offering you the perfect spot to enjoy the parade and ceremonial march-past.

This year, the occasion is even more special. Artist Babke Moelee has created a beautiful bronze sculpture – De Willem – which will serve as the new travelling trophy for the winner of the ZLF.

The sculpture refers to the historic crossing of William of Orange in 1568, just a few hundred metres from the festival grounds.

The flag adorning the artwork features the colours of the new coat of arms of the Municipality of Sittard-Geleen, introduced in 2026. Old and new, tradition and evolution – united in bronze.
