Cycle route - Mergelland Fietsroute Zuid-lus 64.4 km

The Land of Marl Cycle Route (Mergellandroute) meanders across Zuid-Limburg. The entire route covers over 155 kilometres, but you can also cycle a shorter stretch. This approximately 64 km long southern loop is perfect for a day trip. You then best opt for an e-bike, because you will have to climb and descend quite a bit on the way. Highlights along the way are the tri-point ‘Drielandenpunt’, Outdoor Karting Vaals, majestic castles and numerous half-timbered houses and, of course, the striking panoramic views of the rolling hills.

In Vijlen you will come across the St Martinus Vineyard, which was voted ‘Best vineyard in the Netherlands’ more than once, and also the renowned heritage steam railway ‘Miljoenenlijn’ needs no further introduction. The cycle junction system ensures that you can easily find your way. You can park and start at swimming paradise Mosaqua in Gulpen. Additionally, there is a map available at the Visit Zuid-Limburg Shops, showing the route and the best tourist attractions in the area. You can easily hire an e-bike/scooter at the ‘Cycle Center’ or at ‘Scooterverhuur Limburg’.
